For a number of Australians understanding the government's proposal to put a carbon tax on the top 1% of polluting companies needs to be explained better. ParraCAN members noting confusion in the community have organised a forum to help unravel the facts from the misinformation that is out in the public domain.
Importantly. people are concerned and want to know more. Many may be asking why we need to tax big polluters and how this will impact young people, families and pensioners. They may well ask what will happen if the carbon tax is not passed?
These and more questions will be addressed in the forum which is being held, Wednesday, 6 July 2011, 7:00 - 9:00pm at Parramatta High School (cnr of Great Western Hwy and O'Connel St.
The speakers on the night include, John Kaye the Greens MP of the Upper House, Amy Saunders from the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, Simon Butler the Socialist Alliance spokesperson and Simon Bradshaw from the Australian Conservation Foundation.
