Liberal Party of Australia : Values Dictionary

There is a serious absence of published non-contradictory policy values from both Liberal and Labor parties. Both parties are good at coming up with key framing words and phrases to sell themselves, but not so good at coming up with policy that does not contradict both itself and reality.

Despite all the games and role play in a democracy, big business lobbies hard and controls more than ever before. Business influences both outside and inside of government, has major control of media, and that is why major party policies are always moving to the right in concordance. So we have a LibLab party, both well stacked by business. They might as well be labelled the Fossil parties, because the big business behind them is the fossil fuel industry. A prerequisite of being the Minister for Energy and Resources is to be a climate change denier, and to have policy written by big business.

Actually Gary Gray, newly made Minister for Energy and Resources, has just said how embarrassed he was to be reminded that he once said that ". . .climate science was a middle-class conspiracy to frighten schoolchildren . . ." (http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/political-news/grays-journey-from-climate-sceptic-to-believer-20130326-2gqy9.html).  He is now convinced beyond doubt. That is a start.  Now how about integrated and consistant policy change regarding Australias total contribution to carbon emissions?  The mining lobby groups are altogether too pleased about his appointment.

The Liberal Party claims they are already right on everything, and that Labor still has a lot of catching up to do, and Australia can only be made right, if only everyone thinks like they do. To help with that, here is a dictionary guide to right wing political thinking over the last decade. Its not meant to be funny. I couldn't make this up.

Asia What will in near future, grow bigger, produce and consume more, and vastly outsize the Australian economy, in terms of population, productive capacity and carbon emissions. At least until climate change wrecks the ability of this population to feed itself. This will continue the trend of Australia becoming a vast quarry for raw materials, and promote the complete ascendancy and huge wealth of the lucky owners belonging to the right wing, mine and extraction industry owner class, that already run our government. The Australian workforce, those lucky few that have jobs, will be reduced to serfdom, and the rest to dire poverty. The promise of Asia is another variant of John Howards promise of Australian prosperity because "we have lots of coal and Uranium". Now we will have more people to sell it to.
Asylum Seeker Some one from a nation where we cannot be bothered learning their language, or setting up legitimate immigration channels, possibly because we are too busy helping to occupy it. An unapproved job seeker, that may need expensive training, or may be a potential drain on social services. Someone unlikely to even achieve the lowly status of worker.
Capital Ownership of the means of depleting the environment. A means of having political power.
Carbon Dioxide Plant food. A harmless waste product. An obsession of psychotic extremist Greens. Nothing to do with fossil fuel burning or climate change.
Carbon Tax Unwanted impost on growth in profits and waste
Climate Change Nothing to do with us. A fluke natural occurrence that has fortuitously coincided with, but has nothing to do with massive human industrialization, fossil fuel burning and population growth. Something that obviously can only be solved by having more growth, and increasing our Coal and Gas exports.
Civilization The process of depleting the environment in the fastest possible way, by nations that compete to grow their economy fastest.
Defence Do whatever the USA asks, no matter what, because they are so big and powerful, and so they are the biggest meritocracy.
Direct Action A policy scam to avoid penalizing the obvious causes of carbon dioxide emissions that feed our bank accounts, and create carbon emission offset scams.
Economy The total amount of stuff available in the market, divided by the total amount of money available to buy it. Refers to everything that can be bought and sold, including people.
Education Ensure future generations of leaders support the values that maximize the size of our bank accounts. Not for workers, as they just need training. See meritocracy.
Entropy Not included in policy, as misunderstanding of this is always increasing with time. Entropy is the ultimate enemy of the human economy. The rate of entropy increase, and its denial , increases with the real size of our economy.
Efficiency Maximize the proceeds of the economy to the benefit of the smallest number of people. See meritocracy.
Environment Anything not man-made that can be monetized for my benefit. Everything else is expendable. See meritocracy.
Equality Being the person with the biggest share of the economic pie.
Extreme Weather Nothing to do with climate change. Non-economic part of environment. Nobody can do anything about it, and all such events should be rapidly forgotten and not be connected together.
Fossil Fuel Gods greatest gift to capitalists. Own-able, mine-able and sell-able energy that everyone wants. Can be used to replace large amounts of workforce. Deny that its a cause of major wars and fuels systematic nastiness of human beings.
Greens Meddlesome people that want to interfere with the pre-ordained human destruction of nature as it once was when it inadvertently birthed our species. People who think we should try to overcome the petty nastiness of human relationships in politics, as in "They're so green."  Probably better than becoming a fossil.
Growth Expected increase in the dollar flow to an owners bank account, based on depletion of everything else except renewable energy.
Health What workers should be made to pay for. And minimize their number of sick days.
Immigration Economic refugees, who are approved to come here, to make a cheaper and bigger workforce pool for our economy. They often come from places, where the process of civilization has produced so much depletion, that Australia looks to be an improvement. The reason being we have not yet been here long enough as a nation, compared to other places around the world. With the help of population increase from immigration, we will soon catch up.
Liberal Australian politician who is anything but liberal.
Meritocracy The more you have, the better person you are, and the more you deserve.
Militancy What a workforce is called when it complains about working for all the pain, while all the gain ends up with other people. Such cases never have merit, because workers never have anything anyway. That's what worker means. See meritocracy.
Nation A collective of business people, who co-operate in creating a profit friendly government, and compete to benefit the most from tax-payer resources. Because of multinational corporations, the most powerful people needn't be actual citizens of the nation.
Opportunity Any way to make money for the finance, shareholding and CEO classes.
Population A means of having a larger, cheaper pool of people for the workforce. Can be grown to infinite size, as it has no defined upper limit.
Productivity Maximize profits for the shareholder classes, for the least amount of pay to the workforce.
Research Finding ways to increase the size of the Environment
Science Information that has to contribute to economic growth, in order to be proven.
Social Services Avoidable costs of having a workforce. Needs to be minimized.
Technology Man made methods of increasing economic growth and waste production. Some of it, such as solar energy capture, would also be useful, if climate change was actually man-made.
Training How to give a person employable skills.  This is to be done by other nations followed by immigration to Australia.
Union A workforce solidarity organization that needs to be hoodwinked, co-opted or made illegal. An organization prepared to make the devils bargains with Fossil Fuel companies.
Waste We have a lot of it.  Anything that is invisible or that can be made invisible, or have its origin denied.
Worker Somebody who agrees to be exploited, in order to survive. People who are without merit, except to increase the profits of people with merit.
Workforce People who need to be made desperate enough to work in the many sorts of mind-numbing, depersonalized and low paid jobs available today. Asylum seekers must be a security risk, because they are too desperate.
