New economy requires new politicians

The double - disillusion 2016 Budget is only 'business as usual'.

I wish I could find something positive, about a "change" in the May 2016 budget made necessary, or justified by the expected double disillusion election. No real surprises here. The budget would be another disillusion under any circumstances.

Vague promises and the shuffling around of money peas under the moving shells indicates this government and even its opposition is collectively a bunch of cornered, clueless, corrupt cowards. Be sure that the shell manipulators intend that banks , mining, and real estate speculators shall continue to take money and power, because the system has to keep going at all costs. Cowards, because they are afraid of straying from old ways of thinking, and fear the new.

Clueless and cornered is so easy, because we live with large institutional inertia that has beset all developed nations governments, particular "western" allies of the USA. So many policy lines are already committed. Core funding of the elephants in our rooms and holy cows in the system is difficult, if not impossible to change without disruption. Government in power is so careful not to offend, that it is paralysed, unable to make significant change. Our government is hog-tied into spending on big defence techology, tied into the machinations, wars and policies of the incredibly expensive US military industrial complex, and tied into the expenses of brutal off-shore detention of the refugee victims of our times. Domestic policy is distorted by foriegn policy, is distorted by fossil fuel dependency.

While the words "Jobs and Growth" came up many times in Treasurer Scott Morrisons speech, there wasn't any evidence of understanding of the global change of fundamentals. We have been tied into pushing economic growth for so long, that the government does not understand the global system resistance to further growth. The old parties have no new policy for growth in detail that will have a net positive result, surrounded as we are by system push-back. Australia has reached negative marginal returns of increasing complexity and growth.

Fundamentals of global energy doing an exponential change - Jeremy Leggett.

This weeks best viral metaphor is a picture of Peter Dutton standing in front the Australian Flag, and shadows symmetrically envelope all but the top half of his face.  Our future is already going to be "water lapping at our doors", and the rising darkness enveloping our souls and government is a foretaste of times to come. Business as usual consists of assuming that nothing else can be done.

Just saying "jobs and growth" and throwing around the term "new economy" is not much of an economic plan deserving a renewal of social license to govern.  It is more of an admission of failure of the current old economy, and a failure of decades of alternating LNP and ALP government.

Here is a link to evidence that the ALP have turned into a bunch of spineless cowards and no-hopers, who have abandoned even their own supported initiatives during their last chance at government.

These parties of government have no ideas that are truely their own, and seem to be ignoring the energetic public requests for large scale renewable energy, and more public transport instead of more car culture, roads, tollways and tunnels, and cries for dis-investment in coal mining and gas fracking. Really, blaming NGOs for their own lack of political courage when in opposition? There is no chance that they will have any courage in government.

This is because both parties are still heavily embedded in the corruption of mining donations. Their policy and mining approvals are dictated by the non-elected Minerals Council of Australia. All the propaganda put forth by the mass media, from now until election day, especially from Murdoch's corporate controlled empire, will be towards supporting the interests of non-elected mining corporations, and re-electing these clapped out bunch of politicians that are only allowed by their owners, to tinker at the margins.

I am obviously supporting the badly needed changes of direction from fossil fuel business as usual that are explicitly stated by the Australian Greens party, and many independants and smaller parties. Economic Growth of "Business as Usual" is not going to be able to bring "jobs and growth."  Investment in an energy economy that is not dependent on oil , coal and gas, is necessary in order to even have an energy economy, and a food economy, in the near-term future. This greens info-link is already out.

For this election to bring about a "new economy", Australia needs to elect a bunch of "new politicians". There is far too much evidence that the current old parties and politicians are unable to change their intransigent and corrupted old ways.
