Thank you all for your support this year.
This is the official invitation for all, to the ParraCAN AGM for this year.
ParraCAN Annual general meeting will be on the 28th November, 2019, at the Migrant Resource Centre, Level 4, 1 Horwood Place, Parramatta.
The meeting will start at 6:30pm. After reports from the Convenor and Treasurer, we have are privileged to have as a Guest Speaker, Taylor Clarke.
Taylor is a Gundungurra woman who works with local and state governments, schools and community groups on issues of Aboriginal culture, heritage and conservation- especially those in the Wollondilly and Blue Mountains regions. She is a law student at Macquarie University and works for an upper house MP at Parliament of NSW.
Taylor is also an Indigenous voice in the fights against the NSW Government proposal to raise Warragamba Dam by 14 meters (the Give a Dam campaign.) This proposal would flood 4700 hectares of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and National Park, as well as hundreds of sacred Gundungurra sites across the Burragorang Valley. It threatens endangered and critically endangered flora and fauna, such as the Camden White Gum and the Regent Honey-Eater- and all of this for development on the flood plain.
