Public Enemy No. 1 for the survival of our planetary civilisation
I do not need to write anything much about Global Warming. Its all happening around the globe now. This coming Australian summer is likely to be a record breaking hot one.
Public enemy No. 1
"We need to view the fossil-fuel industry in a new light. It has become a rogue industry, reckless like no other force on Earth." - Bill McKibben
"With the fossil-fuel industry, wrecking the planet is their business model. Its what they do." -Naomi Klien
The above quotes are from a Bill McKibben article in Rolling Stone. I would encourage the deniers and fossil fuel industry profiteers to read it. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/global-warmings-terrifying-new-math-20120719
Meanwhile major Australian political parties have major absurdity issues, as they just carp on and on about a measly little carbon tax. State governments implement plans to lock out renewable energy in order to favor of coal and gas, with the exception of Port Augusta in South Australia, where Alinta has a solar power station in mind.
Australias biggest carbon polluters are getting enough free pollution permits to cover 94.5 per cent of their emissions. So the price they're really paying is $1.27 a tonne.
More heat than light in carbon tax debate. (David Potts, SMH)
Alinta considers converting Port Augusta generators to solar thermal
The new normal
Record breaking temperatures are the new normal. The public of the USA are finally feeling the heat, with a record breaking summer. Drought, wildfires, and insects are killing forests, and affecting agriculture
Greenland has also shared in the heat wave, Satellites see unprecedented Greenland ice sheet surface melt.

This is also part of a growing potential for a permanent world wide food crisis, with extreme and erratic weather across the globe.

There is a big inconvenience, in that our civilisation is still dependent on fossil fuels. The fossil fuel industry is heavily subsidized, and thats money that could be invested in developing renewable energy.
