Forget nuclear weapons, Mother Nature has the climate bomb

Climate change is looking worse, as the trends move upwards, and science continues to monitor in horror. First of all, the two degree threshold that everyone has signed up to, looks to be at a level between dangerous and extremely dangerous. What was thought to be the effects at 2 degrees, are now more likely to be happening at 1 degree C. Too bad that emissions for 1 degree and more have already been released and continue to warm our shared global cooking pot. As for mitigation actions, global responses are currently at best mitigating for about 4 degrees. Only if promises for the distant future terms of office are to be believed. Our standard best efforts, if started now, might keep it below 4 degrees. This update to the global climate prognosis I sourced from Professor Kevin Anderson, Tyndall Centre, Manchester University as "Climate Change: going beyond dangerous". That prognosis is easily derived from simply measuring the extra carbon in the atmosphere now, and adding to it the effect of our near-future carbon emissions.

Populations world wide are now more likely to suffer death, disease or disability from terrorist attacks done by mother nature, as she is building up a terrible bad temper with extreme weather events. There are her brooding droughts lasting years and decades. Her oceans have become acid, her moods alternate between floods and hot dryness, leading to bush-fires of raging intensity. Monster storms lash out from her heated oceans.  And shes just starting to warm up. Al Queda,  Taliban and like assorted franchises are starting to look distinctly second rate, and even the USA has trouble competing with its killing intensity of occupations, drone bomb splatting for third world nation kill lists, and CIA special kill missions.

Mother nature is definitely gaining the upper hand. We are losing. Mother nature does not care how many individuals or species she takes out. She always kills most of her children. At last the USA has an opponent worthy of its propaganda aims, which is capable of providing real excuses for fascist control.  But the USA government keeps denying or ignoring climate change. Perhaps the Banking and Insurance industries know better as they attempt to crash our global economy, while trying to save themselves and their extremely well paid positions.

Constraining climate change to 2 degrees is still theoretically possible, but only if enough people wake up and stop denying at once, and drop everything else, to take serious emission curbing actions. Failing that its going to be extremely dangerous climate change and a global extinction event.

With so much climate change denial at the top, its been hard for scientists to come out with the brutal truth. They are as human as all of us, and prone to denial as much as the climate skeptics, but at a much higher level of fact and discussion. The denial occurs in the communication channels, of listeners and governments that don't want to know. The "officially approved" US presidential candidates, news of which regularly assails our western news media,  are both wrong. (Official means being able to show up at a major TV debate without being arrested) The global warming issue requires a whole year of honest presentation and debate, to make up for the decades of neglect, not the "Get Smart" cone of silence. For those who haven't seen this old comedy TV show, whenever Agent 86 requested it for himself and the Chief, they found themselves unable to communicate with each other. This seems to be the intention. A marvellous invention, the climate change cone of silence. Nothing can be discussed within it.

Seriously folks, the US government denial of climate change is a civilized world threatening issue.  Climate change denial is much more significant to the foreign policy and future of every nation on earth, and much more dangerous in terms of human life consequence, than the preservation of the US dollar and military hegemony. Sanctions are being illegally applied to Iran by the economic and military Parasite Nations attached to the USA, to protect the US dollar and hegemony.  That includes you, Australia.  The excuse given is that of a hypothetical and imaginary nuclear bomb, without presentation of sufficient evidence, and having yet another nation on our globe in possession of such gross weapons should be by now relatively insignificant.   Mother nature has always had the climate bomb, and it is now being primed and armed, and we are pouring fuel into it.  We are "enriching"  the atmosphere with carbon dioxide, priming its energy retention. Water has great heat storing capacity, and the oceans have been taking up the equivalent heat energy of around 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs per day, diffused globally. As the original official climate change denier, the USA is in my eyes the most dangerous nuclear armed rogue nation on earth, prepared to say anything but the truth to get its reality denying, wicked way.  Its nuclear bombs are a miniscule threat.  The climate bomb is the exploding reality.

Soon enough we are all going to be making sacrifices to mitigate climate change, and we (all of us, friends, relatives, countrymen, co-religion, anti-religion) are all going to suffer from consequences. We will still do better if we work together on this. The USA is not exceptional in any meaningful way. (Apart from gross denial, strongly linked to having too much gross wealth and power, and politics that depends on Corporate donations returned from Fossil Fuel Corporate welfare dependency, and directing massive military global killing capacity)  It would be better for all if the USA could honestly acknowledge the serious intensity of our climate problems, with the serious intensity they deserve, and then it can start calling itself a real world leader.
